Our Process

01
Google Forms
If you are interested in being a part of this project, please fill out this Google Form. It has the basic questions of how to get a hold of you as well as a brief description of why you want to participate in this project. From these responses, I will select people to interview that I think would be a good fit.
02
Setting Things Up
Once I select participants, I will be reaching out with more details, the informed consent contract, and find a time to schedule an interview. Wisconsin in-person interviews will primarily be conducted in June, New England in-person interviews will primarily be conducted in July. There is also the option to do a virtual interview during either month. Informed Consent Contracts MUST be turned in before the interview.

03
Interviews
Interviews take approximately 1-2 hours. I will be leading all of the interviews, and often times I will have someone from my team at the interview to help with data collection and support where needed. These interviews will be recorded and then transposed into text afterwards.

You have complete control over the content of the interview. While I will guide the interview along with designed questions, you get to choose what you feel comfortable sharing and not sharing. The purpose of these interviews is not to trauma-mine for intimate details; rather, we want to give you a chance to share your story how you want to share it.

Further, if you are in need of emotional support during your interview, we can always press pause, reschedule, or go through some nervous system regulatory exercises. I want you to feel safe and comfortable the whole time.
04
Development
This is where the magic of verbatim happens. After the interviews, I will compile a text that weaves all of these stories together into a thematic arc. This will also be the time in which I will remove any identifying details to protect your anonymity. Once a final script is agreed upon, I will share the script with all of the interviewees for final approval. After your interview and before final script approval, you have the power to withdraw individual statements, big chunks of the interview, or your whole interview transcript. Your participation is voluntary, and you have the option to withdraw at any time during the process. More information about your rights as an interviewee will be within the Informed Consent Contract.

05
Performance
Once we have a final script that has been approved by all of the participants, we will be looking at putting the play up on its feet. The date and location will be determined later. All interviewees will be invited to the performance if they so desire, as well as receive updates on future performances.
